The Horse as a Therapeutic resource in the education of children with visual disability and deaf-dumbness – Caballo Amigo Foundation
Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre together with Caballo Amigo Foundation, based in Villafranca del Castillo, have signed during past years a total of nine cooperation agreements, this occasion being the sixth time we run the program “The Horse as a Therapeutic tool in the education of children with visual impairment and deaf-dumbness”.
The project was developed during the second quarter of 2015. Its beneficiaries have been 8 students at Antonio Vicente Mosquete Centre, one of the five Educational Resources Centres that our National Association for the Blind (Organización Nacional de Ciegos de España, ONCE) has in Spain.
The goal of this activity was to enhance the personal autonomy of people with sensorial impairments to conduct everyday life activities, and so improve their quality of life.
For people with visual disability and deaf-dumbness, horses can also be and excellent resource to improve their quality of life. For this reason Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre was willing to cooperate with the initiative by Fundación del Caballo Amigo, aimed to that target group.
