“Physical Activity and Horses: towards a better sensory integration” – ASPANAES Ferrol
Once again, and for the 3rd time, Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre and ASPANAES Ferrol have settled an agreement to cooperate in the development of the project “Physical Activity and Horses: towards a better sensory integration”.
During April, May and June, 28 pupils at Colegio de Educación Especial ASPANAES Ferrol, suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorders, participated in therapy sessions for two hours, twice a week.
Coming closer to horses, and the contact with them, improved communication and involvement in group-dynamics, learning to wait and to respect turns in games, and had both a social and an emotional positive impact.
Physical activity and sensory integration through horses has great benefits for profiles such as we can find at ASPANAES, so Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre is trying to consolidate this practise within the Association.
