Degree in “Foundations of Equine Physiotherapy and Animal Rehabilitation” – Complutense University of Madrid
One more year, and this is the seventh in a row, undación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre supported the educational program run by the Veterinary School at UCM (Complutense University of Madrid) called Degree in “Foundations of Equine Physiotherapy and Animal Rehabilitation”
This training program covers the first year of the full two year training plan in Physiotherapy an Equine Rehabilitation, and after the second year participants receive the Degree “Expert in Equine Phisiotherapy and Rehabilitation.
The full training program is two years, with a total of 500 training hours. This class began in October 2017 and finished in October 2018 their first education year, and during their second year will continue their education with the speciality of “Expert on Equine Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation”.
7 students enrolled in this edition of the program, all of them vets from different points of Spain and abroad.
The faculty is composed of 30 experts, among which are veterinarians specialised in the different subjects addresses in the course, physiotherapists, doctors, psychologists, farriers, etc.
The 10 subjects in the educational plan cover different topics related to Functional Anatomy, Biomechanics, Functional Neurology, Locomotive Physiology, Lameness Diagnosis, Traumatology, Physiotherapy of Tissue Regeneration and Regenerative Medicine, Behaviour, Physiotherapeutic Assessment, Manual Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physiology of Exercise and Training, Image Based Diagnosis, Veterinarian Osteopathy, Chiropractic, and other alternative medicine techniques, such as acupuncture, among others.
All subjects comprise lectures and hands-on training, which has to be at least 50% of the schedule, and is conducted mainly at the premises of the Complutense Veterinarian Clinic Hospital.
