“Expert in Equine-Assisted Interventions" Degree – Complutense University of Madrid

Eight years of consecutive agreements between the Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre and the Complutense University of Madrid, this year a new agreement has been signed to collaborate with the first edition of the “Expert in Equine-Assisted Interventions»Degree.

The program, which has been carried out in the Veterinary Faculty of the Complutense University and in the equestrian facilities of the Adhin Association, has focused on acquiring knowledge of the entire set of disciplines that fall within the scope of the Equine-Assisted Interventions for a total of 13 professionals, recent graduates, or final year students in any of the areas of Health Sciences (Psychology, Pedagogy, Medicine, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Veterinary, etc.) and Education.

The theoretical-practical course began in July and ends in December, a total of 6 months in which attendees were trained in the knowledge, skills and procedures necessary to care for and drive a horse ensuring its well-being, using it with ease and safety as a therapeutic resource; the identification of the different user profiles, with intervention tools adapted to their physical, psychological, sensory and / or social needs; the strategies necessary to carry out continuous evaluations of development, as well as other aspects related to the legislation in this matter.

This new training program of the Complutense University of Madrid covers a fundamental field for Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre, such as being able to offer a wide pedagogical vision to the different professionals who wish to incorporate into their sessions the therapeutic and educational benefits that the horse offers.
