Promoting and Encouraging Gender Equality for Youth at Risk of Social Exclusion through Equestrian Therapies – Equitalia Valladolid
The Foundation for the Promotion of Equestrian Sport and Equitalia Valladolid, have established a collaboration agreement for the first year, for the implementation of a project aimed at promoting gender equality for young people at risk of social exclusion through equestrian therapies.
The beneficiaries of this project were 16 young people between 14 and 21 years at the risk of social exclusion of the Care Homes and Transitional Services of the ADSIS Foundation. This project has worked the interaction with horses to build confidence, self-esteem, communication, personal growth, respect, control, sensibility, etc., and to help having a clearer view of themselves, and how to modify those limiting behavior s, beliefs and behaviors.
The horses provide many benefits for people with very different profiles that do not always have to be related to physical, mental or sensory disabilities. Therefore, the Foundation for the Promotion of Equestrian Sport has supported, that youth at risk of social exclusion see an improvement in their relational skills and empathic capacity, thanks to the work with horses.
