Horse Assisted Therapy Program oriented to youths at intellectual disadvantage – Fundación Carriegos
For the ninth year in a row, Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre and Fundación Carriegos signed an agreement through which our foundation supported their Horse Assisted Therapy Program oriented to youths at intellectual disadvantage.
A group of 10 users within an age range from 2 to 6 years, and low, moderate or severe intellectual disadvantage, participated in 45 minutes weekly sessions held from February to December 2016.
Among the general objectives of the program was the development of areas such as psychomotor, sportive, cognitive, behavioural, language and communication, emotional and affective, with the support of a multidisciplinary team that designed an adapted work plan, conducted the sessions and assessed the activities.
Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre keeps showing its commitment with the use of equestrian therapy as a tool to provide benefits in specific intervention areas, or as a perfect complement to other therapies, for people with functional or other diversities.
