Fundacion para la Promocion del Deporte Ecuestre has signed, for the second year in a row, an agreement with Unicornio Azul (Blue Unicorn) Association of Guadalajara. This collaboration focuses on improving the instruction and training of the association’s technicians and volunteers, through two courses on different issues, related to the particular condition of different association members.

The first course instructed a technician on Level III of Spanish Sign Language, and held an Initiation Workshop for seven volunteers. With this training it has been possible to improve therapy conditions for 9 recipients, who, due to their deaf-blindness or speech limitations, had communication problems not also with the staff at the association, but also with their family and tutors.

The second course, which benefited two technicians and five volunteers, focused on horse attention and cares. It also included a Workshop on Basic Care, specific for four of the recipients of Equine Assisted Therapy, which will enhance their personal autonomy during the therapeutic sessions.

In this way, Fundacion para la Promocion del Deporte Ecuestre, works to strengthen the basis for efficient and secure horse assisted therapies, facilitating communication between technician and patient in spite of personal disadvantages, and building up love and care for those horses that work along with them to achieve their goals.
