For the fifth consecutive year, Fundacion para la Promocion del Deporte Ecuestre signed a cooperation agreement with Asociacion de Profesionales de Terapias Ecuestres, APTC (Equestrian Therapy Professionals Association), from Valencia, to provide five children with equine assisted therapy.

The children who benefited form the therapies, all attending the Special Needs Education Centre Sebastian Burgos, were within an age range from 3 to 6 years. Due to the significant cognitive and functional differences among the participants, it had to be a tailored-to-the-user program, adapting accordingly the contents of each session. In spite of this, it was possible to keep a common structure of pre-ridding, ridding and post-riding activities for all participants, who benefited from a 30 minutes weekly session during the months of May and June.

In this way, Fundacion para la Promocion del Deporte Ecuestre keeps working on bringing equestrian therapies to those in greater need of them; in this case children with psychological disadvantages, who benefited for the first time from this type of therapy, giving them, thus, the chance to build-up skills to minimize, or even overcome, some of their disadvantages.
