The Horse as a therapeutic tool in the education of children with visual impairment and deaf-muteness – Fundación Caballo Amigo y Fundación ONCE
Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre takes part, once again, in the project conducted by Fundación Caballo Amigo, from Madrid, in cooperation with Fundación Once, called “The Horse as a therapeutic tool in the education of children with visual impairment and deaf-muteness”, establishing, thus, the tenth cooperation agreement between both entities.
Beneficiaries of this project have been 8 pupils of Antonio Vicente Mosquete Centre, one of the five Educational Resources Centres held by ONCE in Spain.
The purpose of the activity was to favour the personal autonomy of persons with sensory diversity in the activities held at the equestrian centre, and to pursue an improvement in their quality of life. To reach this autonomy they worked on three main aspects: spatial situation, horse care and riding.
All participants were successful in meeting the goals established, acquiring greater autonomy and useful skills for their everyday life.
With this purpose, Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre was eager to support this initiative that brings Equestrian Therapies closer to children with visual impairment and deaf-muteness.
