Horse assisted therapies – ASPACE Baleares
For the 5th year in a row, Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre has signed a sponsorship agreement with Asociación Parálisis Cerebral de Baleares (ASPACE), that will receive adapted riding equipment so they can continue with their horse assisted therapy program.
The equestrian activities run by ASPACE are essentially therapeutic riding, hippotherapy, and the training of a paraequestrian riding team (pre-competition stage). Of these, people with disabilities are benefited both from entities belonging to the Association, such as the ES Siurell Day Center, the Pinyol Vermell Special Education School and the Vuit Vents Residence, as persons outside the Association.
As a whole, 60 persons participated in horse assisted therapies, 70 in the Equine Therapy Workshop held in Centro de Día “ES Siurell” , 12 in another workshop held at Pinyol Vernell School, and 21 inmates of the Nursing Home who took on the grooming and care of the horses.
The donation of riding equipment to organizations that need to improve their technical resources and enhance safety during their therapy sessions, is on of Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre’s main tasks, and for this reason has given a response to ASPACE ‘s request.
