In 2018, the Foundation’s Board of Trustees decided to award a new recognition to the Therapeutic Riding work carried out beyond our borders with the “INFANTA DOÑA ELENA THERAPEUTIC RIDING AWARDS FOR THE HISPANIC AMERICAN COMMUNITY”.
This important distinction is aimed at highlighting the work carried out by individuals, institutions or groups of people who develop, promote, organise or promote Therapeutic Riding activities in any of Latin America countries.
These are Therapeutic Riding projects developed in continuity and which, regardless of their size and focused on benefiting a group and not a particular person, constitute a notorious benefit to people suffering from any type of disability, physical, mental or sensory.
After evaluating the proposals of 30 entities from 13 countries, the first Infanta Doña Elena Award in Therapeutic Riding for the Spanish-American Community went to the Mexican entity Fundación FICAE (Fundación Internacional de Cabalgantes y Actividades Ecuestres), for the globality and similarity of its project with the objectives of Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre in our country, but also for being a point of reference in the development of Equestrian Therapies in Mexico and throughout Latin America, with an influence in this field that reaches across borders.
The award was presented in our Annual Gala during the Merit Recognition Act, which took place in November 2019 at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
