15th AEVEE WEVA Congress Intermediate Meeting

The Spanish Association of Equine Specialist Veterinarians (AEVEE) organized, with the sponsorship of the Foundation to Promote Equestrian Sports, the “15th Congress – WEVA Intermediate Meeting” at the National Outrider of Segovia, during the 5th, 6th and 7th May of 2011.

The congress was attended by recognized professionals in the field of equine veterinarian medicine:

  • Tim Greet, from Rossedales Equine Hospital (England), equine-specialized professor who delivered several lectures on minimally invasive surgery.
  • Anne C. Malblanc, from Veterinary School (France), doctor specializing in equine internal medicine, who delivered conferences based on the interpretation of clinical analyses of sports and training horses.
  • Fernando Canonici, from Scuderia Capannacce Centro Allenamento Purosangre (Italy), who delivered several conferences regarding orthopedic conditions, injuries and intra-articular treatments and fracture surgery.

Other guests were Dr. Thomas Launois, from Clinique Veterinaire Desbrosse (France), with lectures on ophtalmology and computed tomography applied to traumatology surgeries; Dr. Luis Lamas, with a conference about injuries in the horse’s back; and Dr. Gerd Heuschmann, with lectures on concealed lameness.
The rest of the program was completed by talks about several veterinarian topics like pathologies of the digestive system, gammagraphy, action protocol in a case of Nile Fever Virus, new protocols of equine anesthesia, etc.
In addition, there was a section for free communication, where some of the latest advances on equine medicine were made known, as well as retrospective studies of various pathologies, interesting clinical cases and statistical analyses of equine behavior, among others.
Through this sponsorship, the Foundation to Promote Equestrian Sports continues to promote the Professional Training of equine specialists all over the country.
