Horse Assisted Intervention Program – ASPANAES Ferrol

ASPANAES Ferrol (Association of Parents of Persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders in Ferrol) and Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre have reached their 4th agreement to support their Horse Assisted Intervention Program.

During April, May and June, 28 students from C.E.E. ASPANAES Ferrol (Special Needs School), organized in four groups, participated in the program called “Trabajar la Integración sensorial con caballos” (“Work on sensory integration with horses”) with Equine Therapy Sessions twice a week, for two hours each session.
Through group dynamics they worked on communication and social participation, learned to wait for and respect turns in games, and practised other activities to build relationships with the horses and boost their physical and sensory conditions.

Fundación para la Promoción del Deporte Ecuestre fosters the inclusion of Equestrian Therapies in educational programs to develop the physical and sensory skills of persons with ASD, and appreciates the efforts of ASPANAES Ferrol to provide its members with the benefits of the relationship with horses.
