For the development of these programmes Carriegos Foundation arranged a multidisciplinary team who designed a work plan, setting the goals to achieve, developing the content and finally evaluating the results of the activities.
Carriegos Foundation developed a total of three visits of 8 days during the months of July and August 2013.
In each of the stays 16 people with celebral palsy, accompanied by 8 monitors from the Association participated,  totalling 48 people treated and 24 accompanying monitors.
During the visits two large blocks of activities were carried out:

  • SESSIONS OF EQUINE THERAPY:  Individual sessions with each participant. The visits allow the participants to benefit from the equine therapy sessions thanks to a professional  multidisciplinary team and specially trained horses housed at the centre.
  • ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES:  During the time not devoted to equestrian therapy, a series of complimentary activities were undertaken.  The group had the possibility to choose from a wide range of leisure activities adapted to the target profile.  Workshops of all kinds, tours and excursions allowing one to enjoy a few days leisure, accompanied by free time monitors with extensive experience always choosing the best activities that could be adapted to the target profile.

The programme  results have been very satisfactory, reaching the targets set at the beginning of the project: help rehabilitation, re-education, standardisation, and socialisation of people with physical, mental or sensory disability, or socio – behavioural problems through all the activities performed with the horse, whether mounted or on foot.
